Learner goals and capabilities

Project Summary:

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Lindenwood University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Learners in this program/experience will

1. Demonstrate the ability to identify a problem and develop its quantitative definition.

2. Take steps involved in decision and problem-solving processes.

3. Demonstrate the ability to use spreadsheets for computer modeling and decision

support.

4. Interpret computer solutions developed from spreadsheet modeling and analysis.

5. Demonstrate an understanding of practical applications of business analytics

including data visualization, optimization models, business forecasting with simple and

multiple regression and risk and simulation modeling.

What can our learners do for your company?

Learners in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • data cleaning
  • data preparation
  • data visualization
  • outlier analysis and forecasting
  • hypothesis testing
  • predictive modelling
  • statistical analysis
  • spreadsheet modeling and analysis
  • monte-carlo simulation
  • spreadsheet modeling,
  • linear/ Integer Optimization,
  • statistical analysis,
  • forecasting

Project Examples

Requirements

Projects with data cleaning, preparation and analysis focus

Projects with data visualization focus

Projects with optimization problems where a decision making support will be provided after quantitative optimization modeling and analysis

Demand and sales forecasting

Logistics optimization

Make-or-buy decision

Monte-carlo simulation of a probabilistic decision analysis

Projects that will require economic feasibility analysis (net present value, future value, rate of return, etc.)

*Company partner ideally should be able to provide a data set for project

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

  • Q1 - Text short
Would you be able to meet with Dr. Egilmez for an introduction meeting? and if agreed, a project scoping and introduction meeting as follow ups?  *
  • Q2 - Text short
Would you be able to provide a data that is medium size which could be opened on MS Excel?  *
  • Q3 - Text short
Would you be willing to give small thank you gift (does not have to be money, could be a gift card, etc. as a small token of thanks) to our students for their project effort?
  • Q4 - Text short
Does the data require a platform like R or Python?  *
